Ezequiel Busquets is a guitarist, composer, and performer born in Salt Lake City and raised in Argentina. He will earn his Bachelor of Arts in Music, with an emphasis in Jazz Guitar, from Westminster University in May 2025, and will continue his studies at the University of Utah, pursuing a Master of Music in Jazz Performance.
Ezequiel has performed and recorded at institutions such as NYU Steinhardt and has presented his original research across the country at conferences including UMEA and UNCUR, as well as at universities such as Westminster University and UCLA. His work explores jazz improvisation and composition, as well as the cultural dynamics of Black American musicians and the role of improvisation in intercultural communication.
His debut project as a bandleader, Natural Things, was released in 2024, showcasing a blend of jazz innovation and modern composition. The record is available on all streaming platforms and on vinyl. His latest project, Live at Jones Recital Hall, will feature seven original compositions, recorded live tonight and released later this year.
Ezequiel’s contributions have earned him recognition such as the Unsung Hero Award. His music has been featured in the Salt Lake City Public Library's HUM music collection and on KRCL 90.9 FM's RadioACTive. He regularly performs at venues across Salt Lake City and collaborates with local artists, making a meaningful impact on the city’s music scene.
His mission is to continue his career rooted in performance, composition, research, and education, creating spaces for collaboration and uplifting the diverse voices that define our artistic landscape.
